For the retrospective dedicated to Eyal Sivan at the Visions du Réel festival (Nyon, 19–26 April 2013), Italian critic Giona A. Nazzaro wrote an essay on his body of work for the festival's catalogue. The text examines the place of truth in Sivan's documentary cinema — treated not as a fact to be revealed but as an ongoing critical process — through readings of films such as Route 181, Aus Liebe zum Volk (The Specialist / For the Love of the People) and A Common State.
